Wayne Benson Memorial Charity Golf Tournament May 9
The 7th Annual Wayne Benson Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at Dorchester on May 9th. The 4 person 7:30am shotgun scramble will honor the former pastor of the FFG United Methodist Church with a fun tournament, having the proceeds directed to the building program of the Bread of Life. In the six previous tournaments, over $17,000 has been raised for various Crossville charities.
Cumberland County Bank is once again a prime sponsor.
A lunch will be served at the outdoor church pavilion following the tournament. Any inquiries about the upcoming tournament can be answered at the church office, 484-3473.
Cardiac/Pulmonary tourney at Deer Creek May 12
On May 12th , at the Deer Creek Golf Club, you have the opportunity to tee up for heart and lung rehab patients. The fun begins at 8:00 A.M. sharp. Arrive early for a light breakfast snack and then smack a ball for a good cause. Since C/PR Alumni, Inc. is an entirely volunteer driven organization all money raised goes to support cardiac and pulmonary patients with a certified financial need. The 12-week rehab program is doctor and nurse supervised at the Cumberland Medical Center and sets a new healthy direction through diet and exercise. Your participation can change the life course of someone in need.

Applications are available at the Deer Creek Golf Club. The entry fee of $55 not only gives opportunities to rehab patients, but offers you greens fee, cart, light breakfast, lunch, raffle, prizes and tons of fun and exercise. Hospice Benefit Golf Tourney May 13 at Lake Tansi
Gather your foursome and mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 13th at Lake Tansi Golf Course to participate in Hospice of Cumberland County’s annual benefit golf tournament. There will be three flights of teams if the field is full. Flights will be a combination of men’s, women’s and mixed teams, determined by team scores at the end of the round. In each flight, first place will pay $300 per team and second place will pay $200 per team. Another chance for a cash prize is Crossville Ceramics Tile Outlet Store’s Hole-in-One contest on hole #12 with $5,000 cash to everyone who scores an ace, plus additional prizes for aces on the other par 3’s. Other great prizes are offered for closest to the pin and most accurate drive contests for both men and women.
The entry donation is $75 per golfer and includes greens fees, cart, one mulligan per player, gift bag, lunch, beverages, and prizes. Registration and lunch will begin at 11:30 prior to the shotgun start of the tournament at 1:00 pm. In the unlikely event of a rainout, the Big Boy’s Barbecue lunch will still be served and prizes will be awarded by drawings. Knights of Columbus charity golf tourney June 17
The Knights of Columbus Council 8152 of Crossville will be hosting its 17th annual charity golf tournament on Wednesday, June 17 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at The Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain, (a Jack Nicklaus designed course). The format will be a four-person scramble with a maximum of 36 teams. The entry donation is $70.00 per person ($280.00 per foursome) and includes greens fees, cart fees, one mulligan, and an awards banquet at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Hwy 70. If you do not wish to play golf, but would like to attend the banquet the cost is $12.
Teams will be flighted after play: 1st place team each flight, $300; and place each flight, $100; women’s flight (if 5 teams enter), $300. If 8 or more women’s teams enter, there will be 2nd place payment of $100.
Additional prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin (both men and women) and straightest drive (both men and women). Door prizes will be given out at the awards banquet, which will begin at 6p.m. So get your foursome together and fill out the attached form, or sign up individually and be assigned to a foursome.
Make this the one Charity Golf Tournament you enter this year. “Now More Than Ever,” proceeds will benefit Cumberland County Charities.

Fairfield Glade Rotary Club annual tourney set June 27
The Fairfield Glade Rotary Club is proud to announce our 2009 Annual Family Golf Tournament scheduled for June 27, 2009 at the Heatherhurst Golf Course – Crag. This event is one of our major fund raisers for the year which allows us to support many local non-profit agencies. With the help of sponsors and Golf Tournament participants, last year’s event raised approximately $8,000 for our community. Some of the recipients supported by Rotary donations were: Avalon Center, Kids on the Rise, SMHS Baseball Boosters, CCHS Choral Group, Hospice of Cumberland County, CCHS Jazz Ensemble, Scholarships for Cumberland Co. Students in Tennessee Universities, Rotary Youth Leadership Scholars, Tennessee Technology Center Scholarships.
All golfers of Crossville, Cumberland County and surrounding communities are urged to sign up now for this unique one-of-kind golf tournament in the Crossville area. What makes it unique is a focus on the family. Registration requires that two-member teams be made up with some family connection, ie. parent, son/daughter, grandparent, grandchild, husband, wife, uncle, aunt, nephew, or niece. Rotarians were also proud to sponsor free-of-charge, golf team members in the Cumberland County School System. These students are paired with other family members or Rotarian mentors.
