Local Golf Tour to Begin April 28

The Scramble Tour, sponsored by Miller Light will begin its 2010 season at Southern Hills Golf and Country Club on April 28th, 2010 with a 5 p.m. tee time. The tour rotates play each Wednesday among the 5 Cookeville, TN area golf courses. The format is a two-man best ball scramble with a blind draw each week for playing partners. Scoring is on a modified Stableford system and points are accumulated throughout the season to determine a season champion. The tour plans a 20 week schedule and each player’s 16 best weeks will be counted toward the championship.

September Scramble at Southern Hills

SOUTHERN HILLS – Southern Hills Golf Course will be hosting a tournament on September 13 with UCHRA’s Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) as a beneficiary.  The tournament will consist of 4-man teams with two (2) separate tee-off times, at 7:30am and 1:00pm with a shot-gun start.  There will be five flights, and based on a full field the First place prize will be $1,200, 2nd place $600 and 3rd place takes home $400.  Other opportunities for winnings include three (3) Closest to the Hole prizes and four (4) Hole-in-One awards with one of them being worth $10,000.

An entry fee of $80 per man includes lunch and beverages, and a mulligan.  Lunch is being catered by Chartwell’s of Tennessee Tech and Miller will be donating beer and beverages.
Entry will be limited to the first 50 paid teams.  For registration or more information, contact the pro-shop at Southern Hills Country Club at 432-5149.

Madox Joins The Fun

SOUTHERN HILLS – A field of 48 teed it up here on Thursday, August 6, 2009 and the winners were joined at the podium by an interested onlooker. The A flight was won with a score of 7 under by the team of Vic Houston, Dianne Brown and Ernie and Shannon Maynard. Winning the B flight were Seth Gilbert, Ben Coonce, Jordan Davis and Brittany Lee scoring a great 9 under par.

Two Teams Share The Pot

SOUTHERN HILLS – Wednesday, August 5, 2009 action resulted in a two way tie at minus 7 and a split of the pot for the two foursomes. Jr. Parrigan again won a closest to the pin prize as did Ken Hayes.

Scramble Tour Update

SOUTHERN HILLS – Two teams tied at 28 points and participated in a “Putt Off” to determine the weekly winner of the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light. Dustin Reels teamed with newcomer Chuck Russow to tie the team of Neil Scalf and Lee Campbell. After attempts by Reels and Russow, Lee Campbell putted first for his team and stopped the ball closer than either of the other competitors and taking the win.

This made the fourth week in a row that Lee Campbell was part of the winning team. The Tour next plays at Cookeville Golf Club where Campbell will go for five. Tee Time is set for 5 p.m. and new players are always welcome.
