Eight teams sparred for first place this week, and the Winners were Charlotte and Jim Harris, Melissa Cox and Squeaky Myers with 6-Under in a scorecard ‘play-off’.

Harry Selznik and Donnie Loftis made the winning Closest to pin shots.

A sudden storm closed the course at Southern Hills and shortened play to just 7 holes leaving two teams tied at 21 points for the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light. Shane McCloud teamed with Robert Null to tie the eventual winners. After a “putt off”, Harold Penley (L) and Bob Dillon claimed the crown. All 4 were awarded a 9-hole round by the host course. Despite some late afternoon rain on the hills, 30 players teed it up in the 4-man scramble here. Shooting 7 under par to win were Lee Thompson, Tony Burton, Dave Haston and Robert Norvelle. Closest to the pin sharp shooters were Will Benson and Bill Schaffner.

Thursday’s scramble at Southern Hills brought 44 players out to play.  With 11 teams, we had 2 flights for the following winners:

1st Flight :   6-Under won it for the team of Clement and Sam Smith, and Daphene and Curly Richardson.

Everyone stayed after for the famous Burger Bar and door prizes.

44 Players vied for winners’ honors with Daniel Littrell, Andy Reecer, Larry Bartlett and Jerry Ward scoring 7 under to take the prize. Closest to the Hole winners were Jack Amonette on #9 at  6′ from the pin with a 6 iron, and Rob Loller on #6 to 12′ using an 8 iron.

27 points for the Winners

The Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light opened its 2010 season this past Wednesday, April 28th and was hosted by Southern Hills Country Club. 16 players began the quest for the season championship. Harold Penley (L) and  Michael Benson won the initial round of the 20 week Tour season with a score of 27 on the modified Stableford system used by the Tour and were awarded prizes courtesy of Southern Hills. All of the scores for the week can be seen here and the full statistics are available on the Leader Board.

Lee Campbell won the door prize, 9 holes of play at Southern Hills. The second round is hosted by Belle Acres Golf Course on Wednesday the 5th of May. New players are always welcome and through the fourth week can join the Tour and still vie for the championship. For more information visit the Scramble Tour web site.
