Besting a record field of 24 players, Bob Dillon and Peter Grima posted an eagle, 1 birdie, 6 pars and a bogey to score 25 on the modified Stableford system used by the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light. Each was awarded a round of play by the host course, White Plains. Sean Monday and Chuck Rossow scored 22 for a second place finish and 5 teams scored 20 to tie for third place. The team of Ralph Henley and Bob Weaver made two eagles, two birdies, and two pars in overcoming a “no score” hole during the 9 hole round and scored 30 points to win the event. The winners were awarded a prize by host Ironwood Golf Course. Two other teams posted 24 points to tie for second. The tour plays next at Cookeville Golf Club. Tee time is 5 p.m.

The win put Henley in the lead for the season championship with a 6 point margin over Harold Penley. The Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light uses a modified Stableford scoring system adding each players weekly scores to determine a season champion. A sudden storm closed the course at Southern Hills and shortened play to just 7 holes leaving two teams tied at 21 points for the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light. Shane McCloud teamed with Robert Null to tie the eventual winners. After a “putt off”, Harold Penley (L) and Bob Dillon claimed the crown. All 4 were awarded a 9-hole round by the host course. The May 26th play of the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light saw Derrick Pittman and Shane McCloud score 29 points to win. The duo made 6 birdies on the front nine at White Plains and were awarded a certificate for play at the course. The win moves McCloud into third place of the season point standings with 15 weeks left to play. Pittman’s play moved his per round average to 20.25. Jerry Skocelas (not Pictured) and Ralph Henley posted 4 birdies, 3 pars and 2 bogeys to tally 24 points on a modified Stableford system and win the fourth week of play on the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light. Cookeville Golf Club awarded the winners a certificate for 9 holes of play at the course. A total of 19 players took part in the play with Fred Hennings drawing the “Odd Man Out” honors. Complete results can be seen by clicking the Scramble Tour link above.

Shane McCloud joined the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light for the first time as this season began and has been steadily moving up the Leader Board resulting in a win on this the 3rd week of the Tour’s season. Teaming with Chuck Rossow the pair carded 3 birdies, 5 pars and a bogey to total 23 points on the modified Stableford system used by the Tour. This was Rossow’s second win, his first coming during the 2009 season. Each player was awarded a nine hole round provided by the host course, Ironwood.

After 3 weeks of play Harold Penley leads the championship points chase with 82 total points. The Tour plays a 20 week season and accumulates each player’s points to determine a season champion. For more information click the Scramble Tour link near the top of this page.

Harold Penley and Ralph Henley teamed to score a new high for the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light. Playing at Belle Acres Golf Course, the pair carded 3 pars, 5 birdies and an eagle to total 34 points on the modified Stableford system used by the tour. The previous high score was 30 turned in by Dustin Reels and Perry Haile during the 2009 season. The win gives Penley two in a row. Winning the Closest to the Pin prize at Belle Acres was Rich Crittendon.

The Scramble Tour plays each Wednesday evening, rotating play among the Cookeville area courses over a 20 week season. A season champion is determined by points accumulated during each week’s play counting the best 16 of the 20 weeks. New players are always welcome and can join the tour now and still compete for the championship.

27 points for the Winners

The Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light opened its 2010 season this past Wednesday, April 28th and was hosted by Southern Hills Country Club. 16 players began the quest for the season championship. Harold Penley (L) and  Michael Benson won the initial round of the 20 week Tour season with a score of 27 on the modified Stableford system used by the Tour and were awarded prizes courtesy of Southern Hills. All of the scores for the week can be seen here and the full statistics are available on the Leader Board.

Lee Campbell won the door prize, 9 holes of play at Southern Hills. The second round is hosted by Belle Acres Golf Course on Wednesday the 5th of May. COOKEVILLE GOLF CLUB – Lee Campbell and Bob Dillon won the final regular season round of the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Lite. The pair scored 23 points on the front nine at Cookeville Golf Club besting the team of Fred Hennings and Michael Benson by 1 point. The Tour will play a final “Playoff” round at White Plains Golf Course on Sept. 20 to determine the season champion. Harold Penley is the current leader at 257.
