Dillon and Campbell Win Final Regular Season Round

COOKEVILLE GOLF CLUB – Lee Campbell and Bob Dillon won the final regular season round of the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Lite. The pair scored 23 points on the front nine at Cookeville Golf Club besting the team of Fred Hennings and Michael Benson by 1 point. The Tour will play a final “Playoff” round at White Plains Golf Course on Sept. 20 to determine the season champion. Harold Penley is the current leader at 257. Setting a scoring record for the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light, Perry Haile(L) and Dustin Reels earned 30 points to win the Aug. 26, 2009 event at Ironwood. The pair made eagle on the par 4, 327 yard # 4 at Ironwood by putting their tee shot within 20 yds of the green and chipping in from there. Five pars and 3 birdies added to the eagle gave them the winning total. The host course awarded each with a round of golf. The Scramble Tour uses a modified Stableford scoring system and tracks scores during a 20 week season to crown a season champion. More at www.tour.uppercumberlandgolf.com.

WHITE PLAINS GOLF COURSE – Despite earlier rain and a threatening nearby storm the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Lite completed its round with Dustin Reels and Bob Weaver winning the week’s honors at 22 points. Robert Null and Bryan Lynchard scored 21 to take second place. Complements of White Plains Golf Course the winners each received a certificate for nine holes of play. Dale Hair was the lucky winner of the week’s door prize.

The Tour plays a 20 week schedule rotating among the area courses and each player accumulates points toward a season championship counting the player’s 16 best weekly scores. Reels and Null Win Week 16

MOUNTAIN RIDGE – Dustin Reels and Robert Null teamed to win the 16th week on the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Lite. The pair eagled the par 5 10th hole and added 3 pars and three birdies to help negate 2 bogeys and total 28 points on the modified Stableford system the Tour uses. Two other teams scored 21 points and another tallied 20 to take fourth place.

The win by such a wide margin vaulted Null into 3rd place in the season long championship chase. Reels is now tied for 4th place. Neil Scalf leads the points total with 276, Harold Penley is second. This marks the first week the totals are adjusted by dropping each player’s 4 worst scores and/or up to four absences. The full leader board can be seen here.

COOKEVILLE GOLF CLUB – Scoring 25 points gave Neil Scalf and Bob Weaver the win on August 5, 2009 during play of the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Lite. The pair broke the winning streak of four in a row by Lee Campbell who scored 17 points during the same round. The winners were presented certificates for nine holes of play by Cookeville Golf Club and Harold Penley won the door prize for the week.

Campbell remains at the top of the points leader board, Harold Penley is second, and Weaver and Scalf along with Bob Dillon round out the top five places. The Tour will play a 20 week season, counting the 16 best scores during the regular season plus the 18 hole final round to determine the champion.

Mountain Ridge is the location of the August 12, 2009 competition. New players are always welcome.

Scramble Tour Update

SOUTHERN HILLS – Two teams tied at 28 points and participated in a “Putt Off” to determine the weekly winner of the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light. Dustin Reels teamed with newcomer Chuck Russow to tie the team of Neil Scalf and Lee Campbell. After attempts by Reels and Russow, Lee Campbell putted first for his team and stopped the ball closer than either of the other competitors and taking the win.

This made the fourth week in a row that Lee Campbell was part of the winning team. The Tour next plays at Cookeville Golf Club where Campbell will go for five. Tee Time is set for 5 p.m. and new players are always welcome.

The previous winner teamed with Campbell was Perry Haile helping the team to a win at Belle Acres. Dustin Reels won the Closest to the Pin prize of 9 holes of golf at Belle Acres.

SOUTHERN HILLS – June 24, 2009.  John Trusa and Sean Monday led all teams by a wide margin after completion of the 9th week of play on the Scramble Tour here. The pair made a bogey but added 3 pars and bagged 6 birdies to total 27 points. The next best score was 21 posted by Dale Hair and Robert Null. BELLE ACRES – A tie at 26 points put the teams of Neal Scalf – Chris Farris vs Perry Haile – Dustin Reels in a putt off to decide the winner of the eighth week of play on the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Lite. Perry Haile sank his second attempt to take the win for his team. Bob Underhill won the closest to the pin contest and was awarded a round of golf provided by Belle Acres Golf Course.

Four other teams posted scores in the 20’s making this the most competitive week to date of the Tour’s 16 week schedule. The Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Lite plays the Cookeville area golf courses on a rotating basis. A random draw each week determines teams and a modified Stableford system is used for scoring. Southern Hills is the host for the June 24, 2009 event. Tee time is 5 p.m. and new players are always welcome.

Benson and Penley Set Season Best Score on Scramble Tour

MOUNTAIN RIDGE – The team of Michael Benson(R) and Harold Penley holed an eagle, 2 birdies, 5 pars, and 1 bogey to score 27 points during the 7th week of play on the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light. The total is the highest score posted in the 2009 season on the Tour which uses a modified Stableford scoring system. 26 points had been the highest winning score in two different weeks this season and 28 is the all time highest in the two years of Scramble Tour play. Mountain Ridge Golf Course awarded the pair a round of golf each for the win.

Belle Acres Golf Course is the site of next week’s play on Wednesday, June 17,2009. Tee Time is set for 5 p.m. and new players are always welcome. The Scramble Tour plays a 17 week season and rotates play among Cookeville, Tennessee area golf courses each week. Players points are accumulated toward a season championship. Scramble Tour Ties Again

 

IRONWOOD – Fred Hennings and Dustin Reels won the sixth stop on the Scramble Tour in the second round of a putt-off.

Hennings and Reels finished the round tied with the team of Lee Campbell and Michael Benson at 21 points using the Tour’s modified Stableford system. This was the third tie of the season for the Tour. The first round of the putt-off also ended in a tie and then Fred won it for his team on a second attempt. The winners were awarded a certificate for nine holes of play by the host course.

The next stop for the Scramble Tour is at Mountain Ridge near Monterey. Tee time is at 5:15 p.m. Cost for play is $10 and there will be prizes for the winners.
