2011 Scramble Tour golf championship

Dale Hair (left) and Shane McCloud (right) won the championship round of the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light played at Cookeville Golf Club recently by scoring 52 points on the strength of 8 birdies and 10 pars. Harry McGugin took home a gift certificate from Char restaurant as the closest to the pin winner.
The win for McCloud solidified his first place standing in the season points chase earning him a $50 gift certificate good at his local golf course of choice and a gift from SEC Enterprises and Miller Light.
Second through fifth place respectively were Harold Penley, Robert Null, Lee Campbell , and McGugin each of whom also received a $50 gift certificate good at a local golf course and an additional prize.

Scramble Tour at Southern Hills winner

Shane McCloud teamed with Bob Dillon (not pictured) to win the final regular season play at Southern Hills.

Playing the last regular season round at Southern Hills Country Club of the Scramble Tour sponsored by MIller Light, Shane McCloud and Bob Dillon (not pictured) teamed to score 33 points on the strength of an eagle (8 pts.), 5 birdies (20 pts.), 2 pars (4 pts.) and 1 bogey (1 pt.) and take the win. Their nearest competitors, Lee Campbell and Bill Hicks scored 23 points. Southern Hills provided a prize for each player. Read more

Swift and Penley win Scramble Tour stop at Ironwood

Winners Harold Penley (right) and John Swift (left) scored 28 points during the final stop at Ironwood Golf Course of the 2011 Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light on Wednesday, August 24. Their total was boosted by an eagle on the number 8 hole that came via a long and accurate drive, a seven iron shot to within 6 feet of the pin and a deft putt made, for the 8 points awarded by the modified Stableford system used by the Tour. Chip-in eagle propels Skocelas and McCloud to win

WINNING TEAM-Pictured from left are Jerry Skocelas and Shane McCloud after their 30 point win.

BELLE ACRES-Playing the number 4 hole here the team of Shane McCloud and Jerry Skocelas, by virtue of a tee shot to just left of the green followed by a chip-in, scored an eagle for 8 points during play of the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light. The pair added three birdies and five pars to their card for a total of 30 points outscoring the nearest competitor by five using the modified Stableford scoring system employed by the Tour.

Robert Null and Jim Krautkramer were the second place team with 25 points followed by four teams who each scored 23.

Chuck Rossow wins closest to the pin on number 9.

Chuck Rossow took the closest to the hole honors with a shot to about 22 feet.

The Scramble Tour plays next at Ironwood and then finishes its regular 20 week season play at Southern Hills on August 31. The Tour will then play a final 18 hole round on September 18th to determine its 2011 champion.

Wilson and Wickersham win ‘Tour” at Cookeville Golf Club

The duo made an eagle, 3 birdies, 3 pars and a bogey to win by 2 over Shane McCloud and John Cunningham. Scramble Tour 8-3-2011 at White Plains

A heat index of 100º resulted in the smallest field of 2011 for the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light at White Plains on August 3rd. Lee Campbell(R) and Shane McCloud(L) were the winners carding 26 points to win by 1 over Robert Null and Michael Benson.
McCloud increased his lead for the season championship with 290 points besting second place Peter Grima by 26 and the win for Campbell put him in third. All the stats can be found at the Scramble Tour link above.

Benson and McCloud take Ironwood win on Scramble Tour

Michael Benson (left) and Shane McCloud took honors with 24 points this week as the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light played at Ironwood Golf Course. The duo hacked out 6 pars (12 points) and a double bogey (0 points) through the first 7 holes and then closed their round with a birdie (4 points) and an eagle (8 points) to beat out three other teams who had tallied 20 points each to tie for second.

McCloud makes it two in a row on Scramble Tour

Cookeville Golf Club, June 1, 2011

Will Wilson (left) paired with Shane McCloud at the Cookeville Golf Club stop of the Scramble Tour sponsored by MIller Light to score 26 points and take the win claiming prizes provided by the host course. McCloud and Wilson made seven pars(14 pts), one birdie(4 pts) and one eagle(8 pts). The eagle came on the number 6 par 5 with a second shot from 170 yards that rolled to a stop just 7 feet from the hole. The duo of Peter Grima and Dale Hair scored 24 for second place and Michael Benson and his playing partner Harry McGugin tallied 23. Early season point standings have Grima in first place with 125 points and Benson at 120 points. The Tour plays a 20 week season rotating among the Cookeville area courses and plays next on June 8 at Belle Acres golf course. White Plains hosts 6th week of Scramble Tour

Shane McCloud teamed with John Cunningham (not pictured) to win the May 25 stop at White Plains Golf Course on the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light. McCloud, knowing he had just one chance since Cunningham had left the course not aware his team had scored enough, holed his attempt during a putt off to capture the win after tying with the duo of Jim Krautkramer and Bob Weaver at 21 points in the modified Stableford system used by the Tour.

Cunningham and McCloud made 6 pars, 1 bogey, and two birdies on the back nine to gain their 21 points and the winners’ prize courtesy of the host course.

The Scramble Tour rotates play among the Cookeville area courses and next week’s stop is at Cookeville Golf Course on Wednesday, June 1, 2011. New players are always welcome. See more at tour.uppercumberlandgolf.com .
