By Kevin Donaldson

COOKEVILLE-Former Celina resident Paul Korth made a crucial birdie late in the second round to take his third Upper Cumberland Amateur golf championship here recently. Korth, who finished second in another amateur championship several weeks ago, shot rounds of 5-under-par 67 on Saturday and 4-under-par 68 on Sunday to edge five-time champ Tim Richardson by a single shot at Ironwood Golf Course.

Korth made a big birdie on the long par-4 16th hole on Sunday to take the win. He was tied for the lead with Ryan Allison and had a one-stroke advantage on Richardson at that point.
