PGA Junior Championship to be played at Cookeville Golf Club

Cookeville Golf Club will host the 2011 PGA Junior Championship this July 13 and 14 as player ages 13 to 18 compete to qualify for the national championship as one girl and one boy from this tournament will advance to represent the Tennessee section at the national tournament played this year at Sycamore Hills GC in Ft. Wayne, IN on August 2-5.

Quoted in an article on the Herald-Citizen web site Golf Club general manager and PGA professional Matt Manzaro said, ”It’s an opportunity to give back to the community of Cookeville. We always go out and ask for money to sponsor tournaments, but now we have an opportunity to bring people in from out of town and spend money in our community.”

Cookeville Civitan Tournament at White Plains

Swallows Insurance to sponsor $10,000 hole in one prize

The Cookeville Civitan Club will conduct a fund raiser golf tournament on June 4, 2011 at White Plains golf course with registration beginning at 7 a.m. and teeing at 8 a.m. Winning teams will be awarded cash prizes and Swallows Insurance is sponsoring a $10,000 hole in one prize during the tournament. The tournament fee of $150 per 3-man team includes tournament play, a green fee practice round, breakfast provided by Hardee’s, lunch by Subway, goodie bag for each player, complimentary Coke products, and range balls on tournament day.

Procedes from the tournament will benefit Special Olympics and other local community service organizations.

IRONWOOD GOLF COURSE-The 2011 Putnam County Senior Championship was played here on April 30, 2011 with 20 players competing in 4 age divisions. The lowest score, 75, was recorded by W.C. Howell in the 65-69 group.

Tennessee Men’s Senior Open field filling up fast

FAIRFIELD GLADE-The field is filling up fast for the Tennessee Men’s Senior State Open, to be held at Stonehenge Golf Club here May 24-25.

Tennessee Professional Golf Association officials and City of Crossville marketing Director Billy Loggins said today that “registration is coming along great,” with 68 players already signed up and only 10 spots remaining, long before the official deadline of May 18.

The Senior Open will be the first of three state championships held in Crossville again this year.

Fairfield Glade’s Stonehenge to host State Senior Men’s Golf Open in May

FAIRFIELD GLADE-The Tennessee Senior State Open will be held at Stonehenge Golf Club here May 24-25, and officials say they expect the field to fill up quickly, as it did last year.

The City of Crossville will serve as the title sponsor for the Senior State Open, and Stonehenge is in the second year of a three-year agreement with the Tennessee Professional Golfers Association (TPGA) to host the event.

Danielle Downey Captures Title at 2010 Tennessee Women’s Open Championship
