WHITE PLAINS - On Sunday afternoon, July 12, parents and children are invited to enter the CCM Adult/Youth 2-Person Best-Ball Golf Scramble–the first golf tournament of its kind in the Upper Cumberland area. The tournament will be held at White Plains Golf Course in Algood. Registration begins at 2:00 p.m. There will be a putting contest from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., and a shotgun start at 3:00 p.m. Mulligans will be sold at the registration table.
The Cookeville Children’s Museum of the Upper Cumberland introduces yet another fun way for families in the Upper Cumberland to spend quality time together. This time, it is on the golf course. According to the Play Golf America web site, children are never too young to learn the game of golf. Some of the game’s greatest players, such as Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, and Bobby Jones, started off by playing golf with their fathers. Plus, there are not many other sporting activities where parents and children can spend so much quality time together in an outdoor setting.
The CCM Adult/Youth Golf Scramble is a fundraiser that directly benefits the children’s museum, a community-inspired museum for families of young children in the Upper Cumberland. The registration fee to enter the golf scramble is $100 per 2-person team. Each team must be made up of one adult (age 18 or older) and one youth (age 6-17). Children younger than 6 may enter with prior approval. Every team has the chance to win one of the day-trip grand prizes, which include trips to Wild Bear Falls, Nashville Shores, Adventure Science Center, and more.
Tournament registration forms are available for download from the museum’s home page: www.CookevilleChildrensMuseum.org. There are several ways for teams to register:
