Cumberland Bend Golf Course will host a benefit tournament on August 22, 2009 at 8 a.m. Proceeds benefit the Gainesboro Lion’s Club. The format is an A B C D scramble. White Plains Golf Course will host a Ladies Golf Clinic beginning Monday Sept 14th and continuing each Monday for six weeks. The clinic will be conducted from 9-10:30 each morning. COOKEVILLE GOLF CLUB – Scoring 25 points gave Neil Scalf and Bob Weaver the win on August 5, 2009 during play of the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Lite. The pair broke the winning streak of four in a row by Lee Campbell who scored 17 points during the same round. The winners were presented certificates for nine holes of play by Cookeville Golf Club and Harold Penley won the door prize for the week.
Campbell remains at the top of the points leader board, Harold Penley is second, and Weaver and Scalf along with Bob Dillon round out the top five places. The Tour will play a 20 week season, counting the 16 best scores during the regular season plus the 18 hole final round to determine the champion.
Mountain Ridge is the location of the August 12, 2009 competition. New players are always welcome.
SOUTHERN HILLS – A field of 48 teed it up here on Thursday, August 6, 2009 and the winners were joined at the podium by an interested onlooker. The A flight was won with a score of 7 under by the team of Vic Houston, Dianne Brown and Ernie and Shannon Maynard. Winning the B flight were Seth Gilbert, Ben Coonce, Jordan Davis and Brittany Lee scoring a great 9 under par.

SOUTHERN HILLS – Wednesday, August 5, 2009 action resulted in a two way tie at minus 7 and a split of the pot for the two foursomes. Jr. Parrigan again won a closest to the pin prize as did Ken Hayes.

Belle acres Golf Course recently held a nighttime golf tournament in memory of Mike Johnson. Pictured are the Johnson family and the first and second place teams. Players used a “glow in the dark” ball and flashlights to aid play.

WHITE PLAINS – Thursday July 30th saw another good turn out of 40 players for the Thursday Night Scramble at White Plains. Eric Burton, Rob Lollar, Josh Stevens and Tony Oliphant carded the winning score of eleven under. Coming in 2nd was the team of Dean Hoffman, Josh Clark, Ryan Allison and Ray Wear. Players also claiming prizes were Matt Barefoot for closest to the pin at nine feet and Eric Burton for longest putt at three feet and eleven inches. White Plains looks forward to seeing everyone this Thursday.

SOUTHERN HILLS – Two teams tied at 28 points and participated in a “Putt Off” to determine the weekly winner of the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Light. Dustin Reels teamed with newcomer Chuck Russow to tie the team of Neil Scalf and Lee Campbell. After attempts by Reels and Russow, Lee Campbell putted first for his team and stopped the ball closer than either of the other competitors and taking the win.
This made the fourth week in a row that Lee Campbell was part of the winning team. The Tour next plays at Cookeville Golf Club where Campbell will go for five. Tee Time is set for 5 p.m. and new players are always welcome.
