Two In A Row For Campbell

IRONWOOD – Lee Campbell teamed with Richard Boykin to win the 12th week of the season on the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Lite. The pair carded 4 birdies and 5 pars on the front nine to earn 26 points and edge out the team of Dustin Reels and Robert Null by 2. The winners were presented with a certificate for nine holes of play by the host course, Ironwood.

The win helped Campbell maintain his second place standing in the season championship chase as Harold Penley continues to lead the league with 247 total points. All of the scores and standings can be seen here.

The Scramble Tour recently added another four weeks to its schedule making the season 20 weeks in length with the 16 best scores for each player counting toward the championship. The Tour next plays at Belle Acres Golf Course on Wednesday, July 22 with a 5 p.m. tee time. Belle Acres will be awarding a prize for the closest to the hole shot on number nine. New players are welcome to join at the course.

Southern Hills Flights the Field

The Thursday Couples tournament at Southern Hills has become so fun filled and popular that two flights were necessary this week. The winners in the A flight were John Ensor, Shirley Maddux, Pam Lanius and Dwaine
Franklin who shot a 7 under par score while the B flight winners were Brad and Andrea Geren and Jerry and Vivien Ward with a 6-under score. Winning closest to the hole for the second week in a row was Daphene Richardson at the #6 par three. The ‘Lemon’ award went to Don, Marianne, Karen and Ralph. (Last names withheld to limit the embarrassment).

Bring A Flashlight

GAINESBORO – The Cumberland Bend Golf Course announces another ‘Glow in the Dark’ tournament scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2009. It will be a four-man A-B-C-D draw 9 hole tournament (or your can bring your own  A-B-C-D team) beginning at dark, of course.  The price is $120.00. For further information call (931) 268-0259.

BELLE ACRES – Tuesday July 7 saw the team of Larry Bartlett, Jim Winters, Ross Norri, Bob Goff win the Industrial League play with a score of  -9, while Rick Firestone fired it to 23 inches for the Closest-to-the-Hole prize.

Wednesday’s action resulted in Pam Lanius and Dwaine Franklin bolting to the front with a 6 under score making them repeat winners. Franklin also won the Closest-to-the-Hole prize.
