SOUTHERN HILLS – This winning foursome played the front nine with a score of 9 under par during the May 28, Thursday Night Couples Scramble at Southern Hills Golf Course, Cookeville, TN.

Crystal Blythe won ‘Closest to Hole’ honors on the par 3 # six.

SOUTHERN HILLS GOLF COURSE - Nine under par was the winning score posted by the team of (L-R) Jr. Parrigan, Russell Borden, Kevin Hawkins, and Larry Bartlett. 

Johnny Anderson was closest to the hole on # 6 while Chris Moore took the best shot honors on the # 9 finishing hole.

The four-man scramble takes place each Wednesday at Southern Hills. For more information call the course at (931) 432-5149.

Dillon and Mayberry win Scramble Tour at Cookeville Golf Club

COOKEVILLE GOLF CLUB – Week 5 of the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Lite was won by the team of Bob Dillon and James Mayberry. The pair posted a score of 26 with an Eagle, 2 birdies, 4 pars and 2 bogeys, beating the team of Harold Penley and Bob Weaver by 3 points on the modified Stableford system (bogey=1, par=2, birdie=4, eagle=8) used by the tour.

The host course awarded a certificate for 9 holes of play including cart to each member of the winning team. The win moved Dillon into a tie for 3rd place in the league’s season long points tally while Mayberry moved from 13th to ninth in the rankings. Harold Penley is the current leader with a total of 107 points. Statistics for the tour can be viewed by clicking here.

The Scramble Tour plays next at Ironwood Golf Course on June 3, 2009. Tee time is 5 p.m. and new players are welcome to join the tour at the course.

BELLE ACRES – The Industrial League plays at Belle Acres each Tuesday at 4 p.m. 7 under par won the May 19, 2009 event. The winners are pictured at left. The ninth hole is always the site of a closest to the pin contest and this week’s winner flew it to 7′ 9″. For more information call the course at 931-526-8834.

Null and Penley Win Week 4 of Scramble Tour

SOUTHERN HILLS – Harold Penley and Robert Null won the fourth stop of the Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Lite. The winners were awarded a nine hole round of golf each, courtesy of the host course, Southern Hills.  The pair scored 25 points on the back nine to edge out Neil Scalf and Dustin Reels who scored 24 points. Penley and Null bagged 4 birdies, 4 pars and 1 bogey to gain their 25 points on the modified Stableford system used by the Tour. (1 point for a bogey, 2 for par, 4  for a birdie and 8 for an eagle.) Two teams (John Butler and Lee Campbell, Michael Benson and Ed McConnell) scored 20 points each. Complete scoring results can be viewed by clicking here.

The Scramble Tour rotates play each Wednesday among the Cookeville area golf courses. New players are welcome and can join the Scramble Tour at next week’s event hosted by Cookeville Golf Club. Uppercumberlandgolf.com’s Scramble Tour sponsored by Miller Lite announces a $50.00 prize to a scramble Tour player who makes a hole-in-one during league play.

Null and Weaver win 3rd week of Scramble Tour

BELLE ACRES-Another scorecard playoff decided the day’s winners in the Scramble Tour here Wednesday, with the team of Robert Null and Bob Weaver taking the honors.

 

Null and Weaver were tied at 26 points at the end of the day with Neil Scalf and Perry Haile in the modified Stableford format.

Scalf and Haile earned an  eagle on the fifth hole to go along with a birdie on number 9 and pars on all others. Null and Weaver notched 4 birdies and 5 pars to make their 26 points. A score card playoff gave Null and Weaver the win by virtue of their birdie on the fourth hole.

Haile won a nine-hole round provided by Belle Acres with his 6-foot, 3-inch closest to the hole shot at number 9.

There were two teams tied at 7 under par after the nine holes of ABCD Scramble play. To break the tie each member of each team made 1 swing for closest to the hole at number nine giving the win to the above pictured team. The Industrial League plays each Tuesday, 4 p.m., at Belle Acres. Play is open to all.
